Constructing your dream home in Bengaluru
Probably the toughest part is to get a property and once you have the property the next big challenge is to construct your dream home.
For everyone the biggest concern is whether they have the knowledge required to build a own house. I had the opportunity to construct my own house and it was a real challenge to
- Deal with people
- Neighbors
- Labor people
- Architects
- Structural engineers
- Building materials, sand dealers
- Police, bbmp etc etc.
- Arrange material
- Knowledge about various phases and what comes first and what comes next.
- Decode engineering aspects
- Visualize
The list is never ending. I wish you all the best with this task but remember you are not the first one to do this, and believe in your abilities and decision making to get the best. There are always some aspects where you will succeed and some you will fail. But that is no reason to not take on such an endeavor. So lets get started.
Very helpful Naveen.. We are building our dream home in South Bangalore, the stage is in the lintel level. A simple google search for ” sump” gave me your blog. Very interesting and detailed. It is very interesting & useful to read your informative blog. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge & experience with regard to constructing a house. I am under the process of constructing a house in Mysore & have invited quotations from few architects who charge based on various package. However, i find all of them are not to be genuine & trustworthy. The reason being they are not very transparent in their approach & they seem to hide some aspect or the other for which they intend to increase the cost after they get the project. Also, not sure whether they will complete the full construction as they rely on contractors whom we don’t know.
There are few queries i have with regard to constructing your house. Did you manage the manage the construction on your own with the help of a structural engineer / Civil engineer after getting the plan & drawings from the architect? Did you engage a contractor to construct the structure as per the drawings or engage various contractors for plumbing, electrical work, tiling etc?
I’m bit confused which way to go because everyone seem to be so unreliable. Is it possible by any chance you can suggest a good architect & single contractor who can understand and execute the contract as per the structural drawings from the architect?
